The Tolerance and Pluralism Promotion Center is launching
this web-project with a view to creating within the Internet of
the Republic of Moldova reference sources and information resources
dedicated to the promotion of basic principles of tolerance, exclusion
of conflicts and promotion of the inter-ethnical, inter-confessional
and inter-cultural dialogue.
Opting for the exclusion of intolerance and of radical options
from the daily practice, we set to offer you a lot of useful information
with the help of which you will be able to promote the principles
of tolerance in your family, at school, in the street, in your
community, and, why not, in the country.
Hoping to become along the way friends and colleagues in the promotion
of principles of peace, we propose you the following compartments
of this site:
Overview - references to the materials of this site, news,
announcements, useful information.
About us - you will find here an introduction of the Tolerance
Center, its mission, goals and objectives, address and other such
information.
Projects - this compartment is destined to reflect the
activity of Tolerance
Center - the Center's current projects, the implementation process,
reports.
Documents - compartment containing documents on tolerance,
pluralism, respect for human diversities, culture of peace and
human rights.
Publications - you will find here various materials gathered
from different sources or developed by Tolerance Center, which
will help you get an ample idea about tolerance, its forms and
ways of promotion.
Forum - we expect here your proposals, criticism, suggestions
and questions, the answers to which will also be published here.
We hope to initiate through the forum more than one discussion
on the issues approached within the project.
Links - vectors of other Internetresources with a similar
theme.
The site is currently in the process of development. We set for
the future to activate the other variants as well, and, of course,
to place new materials, as interesting and as useful as possible.
We will consider your proposals for the extension of the topical
compartments and modification of the existent ones.

101
tools of tolerance

One
of the politically correct words that it’s in vogue to be in favor
of these days is tolerance. But it’s a pernicious meme and a hypocritical
one in may cases. To be really in favor of tolerance, you would
have to tolerate all kinds of beliefs: racism, big government,
prohibition, and or course intolerance. No, when people say they
are in favor of tolerance they usually mean that they are against
other people imposing their beliefs on them and that they’re willing
to do the same in a limited way in return. I say in a “limited”
way because it is the rare tolerant person who will stand by and
not give an intolerant one a lecture on tolerance, or at least
mumble something to passers-by after the offender has departed

Hate
can only be conquered by resident-activists willing to promote
tolerance. You may already be one of them. The ideas in this guide
will help foster tolerance in yourself, your family, your schools,
your workplace and your community. Some of the ideas are things
to do. Some are things to think about. Some are things to remember.
But a word of caution is in order: This guide is not a sure-fire
recipe for making the world a better place. These ideas are only
some of the possibilities. The best ideas are those that work
for you and your community.
Ideas
for yourself
1.
Attend a play, listen to music or go to a dance performance by
artists whose race or ethnicity is different from your own.
